History of the Workshop
The Workshop on Continuous Optimization in Riemannian Manifolds was established in 2014 as a forum for researchers and students interested in continuous optimization, Riemannian optimization, and related areas. Over its successive editions, the Workshop has promoted scientific exchange, collaboration among research groups, and the dissemination of theoretical, algorithmic, and computational advances in the field.
First Edition — September 1–4, 2014
Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The first edition was organized within the Systems Engineering and Computer Science Program (PESC/COPPE/UFRJ). It initiated the Workshop series and brought together researchers working on continuous optimization, differential geometry, and optimization on Riemannian manifolds.
Second Edition — September 1–4, 2015
Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The second edition was also organized by PESC/COPPE/UFRJ, continuing the scientific exchange initiated in 2014 and strengthening collaboration among researchers interested in optimization and Riemannian geometry.
Third Edition — March 26–28, 2018https://woptr.ime.ufg.br
Institute of Mathematics and Statistics, Federal University of Goiás (IME/UFG), Goiânia, Brazil
The third edition was organized by the Optimization Group of the Federal University of Goiás (UFG). This edition expanded the participation of UFG in the Workshop series and strengthened cooperation among national and international research groups working in continuous and Riemannian optimization.
Fourth Edition — August 13–16, 2024
Federal University of the Delta of Parnaíba (UFDPar), Parnaíba, Piauí, Brazil
The fourth edition was promoted by UFDPar and UFPI and brought together researchers from Brazil and abroad. Its scientific program included invited lectures, contributed presentations, poster sessions, and a book of abstracts, further consolidating the Workshop as a meeting point for the community.
Fifth Edition — May 3–5, 2027
Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil
The fifth edition will be organized by the Optimization Group of the Federal University of Goiás (UFG). Building on more than a decade of scientific activities, the Workshop aims to strengthen international collaboration, broaden the participation of graduate students and young researchers, and promote new developments in continuous optimization on Riemannian manifolds and related areas.
